Psychosocial care and, in particular, offers for fast and low-threshold intervention in acute crisis situations are essential building blocks in the area of public healthcare and public service. In this field, Social Workers play a central role in primary intervention, clearing, and the coordination of the interdisciplinary setting.
Based on the three provinces of Upper Austria, Styria, and Lower Austria, this research project aims to take stock of the current care landscape. Moreover, it takes an interest in what changed or will yet change during the pandemic and in view of the demand expected due to the present health-related and economic situation. How can psychosocial crisis intervention around the clock be ensured, especially in rural areas?
From a trialogical perspective (affected persons, relatives, and specialist carers), the fundamentals of basal care and best practice examples are to be developed. The suggestions are to be reflected on by a Sounding Board made up of public health officials. A special focus will be on Social Work as a healthcare profession and on intervention possibilities of Social Workers in the field.
The research will be conducted with a mixed-methods design and will contain participatory elements as well. A particular concern lies in transporting the perspectives and demands of affected persons.
