GAIT Score

GAIT Score: educational software for observational gait analysis

GAIT Score is an interdisciplinary research project with the objective of developing a piece of educational software for observational gait analysis. A high-level prototype has been developed in a cooperation between researchers from the Institute for Creative\Media/Technologies and the Department of Physiotherapy at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. The software includes several time-synchronised example videos of a patient’s gait from frontal and sagittal views. Users can define gait sub-phases and evaluate gait pathologies using a standardised protocol. The outcomes of students’ evaluations of the videos are automatically compared with an existing pool of expert evaluations. GAIT Score is a learning tool which enables physiotherapy students to independently practise skills and prepare for practical work with patients.
