Expectations of primary physician care

Qualitative survey of patients' expectations of "good" primary medical care.

In the course of the health reform, improving primary care has been the topic of much discussion. The aim is to make primary medical care - in contrast to specialists and outpatient clinics - the "natural" first contact point for patients. Accompanied by guidance for patients, it is expected that (financial) strain on specialised health services can be eased.

However, there is currently little empirical knowledge in Austria about what patients expect from "good" primary medical care. The objective of this project is therefore a qualitative survey of patients' expectations of "good" primary medical care. For that, a sample of patients are interviewed. The evaluation of this material results in a typification.
