Audio Visual Analytics Workshop - IEEE VIS 2021

Together with our international colleagues from Sweden and the US, the SoniVis project team at St. Pölten UAS organized and conducted their second workshop on "Audio Visual Analytics: Towards a Research Agenda for Integrating Sonification and Visualization" as part of the IEEE VIS 2021 conference.

The workshop began with an introduction on Sonification by Bruce Walker (Georgia Tech), followed by Niklas Rönnberg’s Talk "Implementing Audio-Visual Data Representations"(Linköping University). Niklas Elmqvist (The University of Maryland) held a talk about “Sonification for Blind Individuals“ and Kajetan Enge (FH St. Pölten) presented the first contributions to an audio-visual design theory from the SoniVis project.

Group discussions and presentations on the topics 1) Theory and Design for combining Sonification and Visualization, 2) Tools, and 3) Evaluation followed.  A final 30-minute open discussion rounded-out the event and a new community of researchers - interested in combining Sonification and Visualization - grew to 22 members on our discord server. If you are interested, you are also very welcome to join our server here: discord

The SoniVis project team from the Institute of Creative\Media/Technologies includes Kajetan Enge (moderator), Wolfgang Aigner, Michael Iber and Alexander Rind
