Object Recognition for Indoor Navigation

Object recognition for autonomous indoor positioning and navigation

As part of the project "Object Recognition for Indoor Navigation", researchers at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences are working on the implementation of a method for the automatic recognition of logos in images. Based on state of the art deep learning methods, an object recognition method is realized that can recognize logos in real time in a video data stream and localize them exactly. The particular challenge is that logos need to be recognized robustly from different angles, distances and in heterogeneous environments. Based on the automatically recognized and localized logos, company partner Insider Navigation Systems GmbH develops innovative 3D navigation systems for interior spaces.
